Title: Phineas Gage

Author: John Fleshman

Genre: Non-fiction

In 1848, Phineas Gage was a railroad worker, he had a horrible accident.  He was involved in an accident because he was a foreman who works with explosives, now he has a hole in his head.  Despite his accident he made a “complete recovery”.  He also traveled the world all his life.  Phineas’s case changed the way doctors and scientist looked at the brain.

Was Phineas Gage lucky or unlucky?   I would have to say he was nether lucky or unlucky because I don’t believe in luck.  So in my head luck is like saying that you won a million dollar off of a raffle ticket it just happens. Stuff happens when it happens.

I dislike the book Phineas Gage because there wasn’t enough action and it was to scientific about the brain.  It started out okay but when it talking about the brain and what happens it totally threw me off track.  What I did like about this book was that it had some awesome pictures of the brain and everything else.  I think it was kind of cool that Phineas Gage lived after his accident.  I would recommend this book to a teenager getting ready to go in to college.  I would rate this book a 4.
